Virtua Tennis
Strengths: Fun (in small doses)
Weakness: Fun (in small doses)
There is nothing terribly wrong with Virtua Tennis on the GBA. It is certainly not as good as the Dreamcast game it was based on but what is here is good. Sega made an attempt at a lengthly 1-p mode but it didn't hold my intrest long, I preferred multiplayer instead. I would say the problem is that there is another tennis game on gameboy I'd rather play because of it's gameplay. Virtua Tennis is...

A Dreamcast Ace Serves Up Great Fun on the GBA
Strengths: Tight tennis action that brings back good memories of the Dreamcast; four-player support
Weakness: Spotty animation; weak audio; lobbing can be somewhat awkward (must press A and B together)
No one will mistake this version of Virtua Tennis for one of the console versions, but by GBA standards, it looks fairly good and plays quite well. In fact, many of the great qualities of the console versions have made their way over to the GBA, including World Tour mode (complete with fierce tournaments and enjoyable mini-games). The gameplay is simple enough to pick up and play right away, but...

Virtua Tennis
Strengths: Modes, gameplay
Weakness: Graphics, Sound
Virtua Tennis has a fairly storied history for Sega, setting a standard for tennis games on virtually every platform it has been released on. Now Sega, THQ, and Altron have brought the franchise to the gba. The dominant Williams sisters grace the cover and appear in the game. Does the game hold up the legacy, or is it a double fault? Virtua Tennis for gba is an ok looking game. Tennis is tennis,...

Since former hardware maker Sega...
Strengths: One of Dreamcast's best games for GBA, tons of mini-games, male and female players, beginner-friendly
Weakness: Uninspired graphics, repetitive gameplay, basically a more complex version of Pong
Since former hardware maker Sega went the developer route, a lot of changes have been made. THQ is now behind the Virtua Tennis series as it makes its debut on GBA. The original Virtua Tennis for Dreamcast garnered a number of "best of" awards around the turn of the century, but the same can't be said of this GBA port. Where the Dreamcast VT was all about the tennis, THQ's GBA port mixes a...

Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast kind of...
Strengths: Minigames, custom tennis players, tournament mode, buying gear.
Weakness: Nowhere near as good as the Dreamcast/PS2 versions, poor graphics and sound.
Virtua Tennis on Dreamcast kind of snuck up on everyone and was a very good tennis game. Probably the best until Top Spin was released. What we have here is a portable version of Virtua Tennis and it retains many of the same elements that made the console version so good. It's easy to pick up and play but it takes a while to master. The tournament mode is fun and deep and there are a ton of mini...
