Description
The multiple award-winning action adventure Okami is now available on the Wii. Use the Wii Remote as a paintbrush to solve puzzles, create pathways, chop down trees or turn night into day. Okami comes alive through beautiful scenic 3D levels that have the appearance and texture of paper scrolls brushed with watercolor-like calligraphy art.
Strengths: Unique world, fantastic graphics, great controls and story
Weakness: learning curve for drawing can be frustrating
Hold down the z button to draw a straight line! I cannot stress this enough. I don't recall if this is in the instruction manual, but it is key to enjoying the game. As for other tips, fiddling with the wiimote sensitivity helps, as does practice. There are times when drawing bloom doesn't register, but it doesn't break the game. As for Okami itself, the graphics look fantastic and are of a style...
Strengths: Artistic illustration, compelling storyline. Easy learning curve (minus brush controls).
Weakness: Poor motion controls for the brush. Fishing is particularly annoying
This is a must own for an Action / RPG fan. It has a feel similar to a Zelda game with a fresh storyline. It's hard to put down once you get going. It does require many many hours to complete though and is hard to remember where you left off after not playing for a week; so not for the casual gamer.
Strengths: -Gorgeous cel-shaded graphics, humorous and interesting dialog -Innovative, new game mechanic with the brush forms -Plenty of side quests/mini games to keep the game interesting
Weakness: -Combat is clumsy at times (jiggling the wii remote to attack leads to unexpected or unresponsive attacks) -No real voices. All characters in the game murmur/mumble like Charlie Brown's teacher
If you liked the 3D Zelda games such as Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess, Okami should be right up your alley. Much like those games, you start out with a very limited set of moves but you gain additional brush strokes as you progress through the game. These brush strokes allow you to add to the landscape of the game (ex. create bridges), cut trees/rocks/enemies, and many other things that I...
Strengths: Utilizes the Wii-Remote in a new and creative way. Beautiful and lush colors with excellent music throughout
Weakness: Control seemed to lag or not respond properly on a few occassions
Originally this game came out on the PS2 and I found the port to the Wii version to be better due to the emmersion felt when using the Wii controller. My kids (13 & 10) were quickly drawn to the neat way to play and interaction with characters on the screen. I found myself exploring things more and more just to see what the paintbrush (remote) would uncover next
Strengths: Creative, easy on the eyes, great cutscenes...
Weakness: picky brush sensor, took alittle longer than expected to adjust to controls...
Okami has a unique graphic layout that is easy on the eyes which allows for numerous hours of gameplay without getting that motion head-ache like the ones I get from playing most other games for too long. It's very easy to get sucked into the story-line, and the some of the characters become so predictable that it's fun to imagine your own storyline even when I'm not playing. The more I play this...
Strengths: You play as Amaterasu with a little partner Issun. The graphics are just Beautiful, the colors are briliant, and the details are amazing. Game play is great with the Wii controls, especially painting.
Weakness: I wish there would have been some actual dialog, rather than the huge amounts of text dialog. Also which there were some Wii extras, rather than a direct port of the ps2 version.
Great game hands down. The graphics are just beautiful. The colors, movement, and huge environment just forces you to immerse yourself into the world of Okami. The anime-type visuals in this game are stellar. Sound/Music is surprisingly good as well. Again, my only gripe here is that there is no actual dialog, but they chose to use tons of text, and the accompanying jibberish talk. The storyline...
Strengths: The game is fun and relaxing. You are drawn into a mythical adventure which keeps you interested at every turn.
Weakness: The Wii controllers don't always work they way you need them to throughout the game.
Okami is well worth the money. Although the story line is straightforward, you cannot help but become enamored with the culture the game brings. It is not for the high adventure gamer, but if you are looking to have some fun with the Wii and if you love ancient mythology, this game will keep your attention the whole way through.
Strengths: -High Artistic value - High Production value - Good plot - Good game play
Weakness: -None
Okami for Wii is a remake of Okami for PS2 that was released couple years ago. The biggest improvement from the PS2 version is the use of the Wii remote as the paint brush. This game plays like the Zelda franchise, the biggest difference is the artistic representation and the fact your character is a white wolf (sun goddess) instead the beloved green-capped hero. The game is highly recommended...
Strengths: The graphics are different but good, it utilizes the Wii remote and Nunchuk very well in most of the game
Weakness: some of the combat options and exploration devices are a little hard sometimes
Overall this is a very good game, and one that some people overlook, If you are a fan of Zelda, you may like this one too. The art work may take a little getting used to, but I think most people will like it once they get use to it.
You are Amaterasu, a wolf deity tasked with restoring colour and life to the land of Nippon. Roam the land helping people and restoring your power. Gain new equipment to aid you on your tasks and discover new areas. Feed animals. Kill enemies with a giant paintbrush. This game is Japanese through and through. Its unique and technically impressive visual style makes you feel like youre playing a...

Okami (Wii)
Strengths: (1) An absolute masterpiece of creativity (2) Epic and captivating game (3) Great art style
Weakness: (1) Sapling restoration cutscenes are prerendered movies from the PS2 version - there is a somewhat noticeable drop in quality in these infrequent cutscenes (2) Wii controls take some getting used to
Okami is absolutely beautiful in its presentation and creativity. It is inspired by the adventure style gameplay of Nintendo's Zelda series - I think specifically of Ocarina of Time, of which Okami is able to compare favorably to. The creative art direction and gameplay elements (made possible by the Celestial Brush innovation) will wow anyone who is a fan of the adventure series. In many ways,...
