Summary
Product Title: Contact for Nintendo DS
Manufacturer: Atlus
Lowest Price: $6.47
Power Score: 4.1 | 15 Reviews
Strengths: Funny story , and very classic
Weakness: the battle system is kind of slow
This game is a very fun old school rpg and looks kind of like Earthbound games. The game basically is about a kid who makes contact with outer space doctor and travels to save the galaxy. The games story is very fun and the customization is almost like similar to Fable only for ds, which is if you kill too much you be ranked as badguy and etc. The level system is not that complicated. Keep...
Strengths: Humors and music
Weakness: Combat
Contact is a qirky, hybrid action RPG published by Atlus that should be in everyone's DS library. The story is unique and graphics and music are great. However, there is a lot of backtracking to make and tends to be tiresome. The combat system could have been better. At any rate, this little gem still deserves a place in your library thanks to the clever idea and humors in the game.
Strengths: Awesome localization! Cool WiFi bonuses.
Weakness: Combat is pretty non-existant and boring.
Yet another excellent game in the DS library! Contact was made by Grasshopper Manufacture (the developer of Killer 7 and No More Heroes). The trademark quirky style showcased in past games is evident here as well. The game's story has a goofy premise about helping a space traveling professor and his dog recover lost power crystal shards. Contact's truly excellent localization brings the...
Strengths: Very intricate level/item system, great art direction
Weakness: Very intricate level/item system, terrible cover art
This is an RPG for the DS that shouldn't be missed. The presentation, story, and control are very different to more traditional RPGs like Final Fantasy. You don't control the main character directly, rather you use the stylus to point him in the right direction. The job/skill system in the game is great and adds and insane amount of depth to your character's development. Some people, though, may...
Strengths: quirky fun, charming graphics
Weakness: combat
As other reviewers have mentioned, Contact was a good idea that didn't quite get it right. The unique story has you interacting with the characters through the DS (which they know about) as well as controlling the main character. The story is lightweight, but fun and has a good sense of humor. The graphics, while dated, are sharp and colorful and the music sets the tone well for each area. It's...
Strengths: Great dialog!
Weakness: Combat is a little clunky
Contact is an entertaining new venture from Marvelous Interactive. This hybrid action-RPG gives you a new role in gaming - yourself. You play a part in this game, as much a character as the professor and the protagonist. It makes what would be an otherwise mediocre game slightly less mediocre. The combat is a bit slow and the level-up system is really broken (you can complete the game without...
Strengths: Unusual setting, breaks the fourth wall, lots to do.
Weakness: Lots of grinding and leveling up. That might not be your cup of tea.
This is an odd little game. A professor crash lands his spaceship and asks you (You as in the one holding the DS, not the main character.) to help guide a boy to find the spaceship's parts. You tell the boy what to do by selecting things on a menu or pointing on the screen and he does them. (Like a MMORPG. You put in some actions for your guy to do, and he does them till you tell him other wise.)...
Strengths: its Atlus, portable RPG
Weakness: backtracking
This is a RPG for the Nintendo DS. The story is good and funny. It is one odd game. You play as your character and makes contact with the professor in the game. You will be like WOW. Anyway, there is lots of backtracking in the game. It makes it a bit repetitive and boring. Just pick this game up if you see it for cheap.
Strengths: Excellent localization, unique twist of action RPGs.
Weakness: Repetitive at times. Too much backtracking.
Contact is a clever little DS game that doesn't just break the fourth wall; it totally demolishes it. The gameplay has a few unique elements that make it feel fresh among action RPGs, and the story and translation are top-notch. However, the difficulty is a bit uneven in spots, and the graphics and sound are mostly just OK. Overall, I enjoyed this little gem and recommend giving it a try.
Contact receives an overall TopTenREVIEWS rating of 2.92 out of 4.00. It is ranked the #3,047 game of all time, #18 game of 2006 for the Nintendo DS and #84 Nintendo DS game of all time. Atlus has always been a company that, for better or for worse, releases fresh and different RPG titles. Contact is one such game, and fortunately for gamers, it falls into the better category. Right from the get-go, Contact sets itself apart with immersive gameplay and an interesting story that compels players along. While the game is simple to control (it almost entirely uses the stylus and...

Interesting concept, but it could have been better.
Strengths: Contact for the Nintendo DS has humorous dialogue and excellent music.
Weakness: Combat is boring and lots of backtracking.
Contact has an irreverent, playful sense of humor, putting it in the same league as Nintendo's Earthbound. The main problem with Contact is the game's lifeless combat system. It works like a first-generation multiplayer game, where you set the character to auto-attack, and bring him within melee range of your targeted enemy. Contact is a clever little game. The music is catchy, and sets a good...
