GORGEOUS graphics, refreshing gameplay, top-notch voice acting and a very engaging storyline.
Very bad slowdown in some areas, repetition of levels/bosses between characters
Posted Jun 28, 2007 - Odin Sphere is technically an RPG, but it's nothing like the types of games you usually associate with that genre. It has much more in common with a 90's-era beat-'em-up. 2D side-scrolling graphics and full action gameplay (that only pauses when you access the menus). The sprites are gorgeous, with lots of great details in their animations. And enemies that more than fill up the screen. The combat is a lot of fun, except when the slowdown hits. And fighting the same bosses with all 5 characters can wear a bit thin by the end. Still, the story is great, and it's ve see more

Somewhat repetitive combat, horrible inventory/item system design
Posted Dec 30, 2007 - Odin Sphere is probably the best looking (at the very least visually intriguing) 2D game ever. All the artwork and graphics are extremely detailed and very imaginative. If people remember Legend of Mana for the Playstation, Odin Sphere is kind of similar to it, except the tone and design is generally darker. Beyond the beautiful 2D graphics, the game itself isn't all that special.
