4 Star Review A few steps back from the next-gen console experience. . .

Strengths:

Decent party game, mostly solid build quality, Guitar Hero controllers work with it, hardware compatible with PS3, lots of fun with a group, developed by the creators of Guitar Hero

Weaknesses:

Expensive for what you get, no online support, no downloadable content, minimal customization, fewer play modes than PS3 port

Posted 1 year ago - At this point, most consumers have at least heard of the popular Guitar Hero series. Developer Harmonix created the series and the first three games (1, 2 & Rock the 80s), but publisher Activision cast Harmonix aside for Guitar Hero 3. Like a jilted spouse, Harmonix is now back with a new date, Rock Band, that expands the Guitar Hero player roster to include a lead singer and drums. Lacking a hard drive, the PS2 forced Harmonix to lose online and downloadable content support. This means the player gets fewer game play modes, tunes and customization options. see more

4 Star Review Electronic Arts Rock Band Special Edition

Strengths:

Great collaboration, good song collection

Weaknesses:

A little expensive for what you get IMO

Posted 1 year ago - This is a pretty good next step to the Guitar Hero series. The guitar controllers that I have from GH work with Rock Band, which is a plus. The graphics are a slight step up from GH. The songs on this game are very good. The best part is being able to play the game with a group of people, and the variety of things you can do, from bass, lead, drums and vocals. GH kind of gets monotonous in that it only offers Guitar play, whereas this offers much more. The included guitar has "strings" that are much different than my other controllers, so that took a while t see more
