3 Star Review Not necessary, but (mostly) convenient.

Strengths:

More intuitive movie access than PS3 sixaxis controller, a reasonable price (especially relative to other PS3 hardware).

Weaknesses:

The STOP BUTTON, fast-fwd and rewind buttons don't operate symmetrically, lack of leymap customization.

Posted Mar 9, 2007 - I use my PS3 more for movies than games, so I bought this remote control as soon as it became available. It is a lot more convenient than the sixaxis controller (especially when you've got the lights down like when running the movie picture through a projector). There are two flaws with this remote's operation -- although I'm not 100% sure that they couldn't be fixed by firmware control patches on the system itself. The first is that the the FFWD and REW buttons by default act differently (FF are at 1.5x with the first button press and 10x with the second, w see more

1 Star Review What was Sony thinking?

Strengths:

It's a remote.

Weaknesses:

No backlight, confusing design.

Posted Feb 26, 2008 - I have a PS3 I use in my home theater, which is dark the way it's supposed to be. It's almost impossible to use this remote. Not only did Sony restrict me from using my nicely designed, control everything, harmony remote. But they restrict you to only use their own terrible design with tons of button and no backlight. It's almost impossible to use without being having the lights on. It really looks like this remote was made in the 80's.
