The Lord of the Rings: The Return of King

Strengths: Frantic gameplay, great graphics and sound, accurately complements the movie

Weakness: No online play, little character gameplay differentiation

"Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" for Xbox is well done third-person perspective "hack-n-slash" game. The graphics are good, but not spectacular. However, the sound makes you believe you're in Middle Earth. The game's storyline is broken into three paths -- similar to the character paths from the movie. You can play as almost any of the main heros including Gandalf, Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas,...

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (Xbox)

Strengths: good graphics, multiplayer coop mode

Weakness: too short, no xbox live

Third person action game based on the movie it has twelve environments which were accurately reproduced from the movie. The soundtrack is great. There are multiple character paths for all the fellowship.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Strengths: Great gameplay, excellent graphics and sound

Weakness: Need to be a LOTR fan to get the full experience

I've never seen any of the LOTR movies but I took an instant liking to this game. Within the first few minutes the amazing intro will almost perfectly blend with the addictive hack'n'slash gameplay to create a cinematic experience not even Final Fantasy can touch. It's fairly easy though and you'll probably have to be a LOTR fans to get the full experience but it's worth the price of admission.

Electronic Arts Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Strengths: Co-op Play, Graphics, Unlockables

Weakness: No Live Play, Length of game, Save Points

Electronic Arts Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is basically an updated version of the old classic Gauntlet. The game is all action with tons of hacking and slashing your way though the levels. Co-op play is the highlight for this game as you make your way through the levels. The game complements the movie as well and the ability to play as multiple characters is also a blast. If you're a...

Return of the King

Strengths: Great graphics and sound, good co-op

Weakness: Fairly short, slightly dull single player

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is a hack and slash game along the lines of Gauntlet, where you take a hero (Or two) and proceed to slice and dice your way across the land. While these games are usally very fun to play with a friend, they're vaguely boring if you're by yourself. Return of the King has many impressive battles in it, like the ending of Helm's Deep, Pelennor Fields, and within...

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of King

Strengths: Great hack and slash game with LOTR license, superb graphics and sound, 2-player fun.

Weakness: NOT XBox Live compatible (online only on PS2), repetetive, difficult.

This is a great way to relive the Return of the King movie. It seems like EA has finally gotten the formula right with the last game (that's based directly on the movie) in the LOTR series. While the Two Towers was a fun game, it was still lacking a two player cooperative mode but now ROTK rectifies that so now a friend can join you. The game plays very similar to Two Towers with a lot of hack...

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of King

Strengths: Great graphics, nice sound, lots of gameplay

Weakness: Plotline can be slow at times

A great tie-in to the film, and reasonably fun to play. Very nice looking, good sound, but definitely for those who enjoy the films. Replay value was a letdown, and camera controls can be difficult at times. A good buy for a fan of the films, an average buy for gamers.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of King

Strengths: Good use of the license. Pure action combat. Great pacing/level design

Weakness: A bit hard in places. If you didn't like the movies...

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a very fun hack 'n-slash game based on the great movie fo the same name. Who doesn't want to play as Aragorn or Legolas as they cut their way through hordes of Orcs and Undead? In this game the action of the movie and more is fully realized. The number of enemies on screen at once is great in that you really feel like a Hero from the movie. For the...

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of King

Strengths: Coop is really, REALLY fun

Weakness: Game kind of lags

This game has pretty good graphics, and is kind of fun. Its 2 player Coop, which is something I love--I really enjoyed that. The only negative thing to this game is that when there are lots of enemies on the screen and in 2 player coop--it lags. Otherwise all in all its a very fun fighting game like the original Double Dragons with LOTR characters

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of King

Strengths: Fun, two player hack and slah gameplay, solid extras and voice acting

Weakness: fairly short, camera issues coupled with wonky controls

EA's first two LOTR games were decent single player fun, but always felt lacking. Afterall, it is a fellowship, and none of the good guys ever have to fight alone. So it was great that RotK adds a co-op mode. However, the camera is not always perfectly suited for two people, especially when monsters can come from opposite sides (or often all sides) of the screen. In which case it can be difficult...

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

“You carry the fate of us all, little one.” A member of the Fellowship says to Frodo Baggins, the chosen ring bearer, in the first installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Unlike EA’s excellent The Two Towers, The Return of the King (the final chapter of this saga) stresses the importance of these words and the role Frodo and Sam play as they reach ever so closer to Mordor. And, if...

LordRings ReturnKing

It's like a hammer. When I first played this game, it was like a sledgehammer came down and smashed everything on screen to bits. Everything from the whiz of smoking arrows to the seemingly infinite particles bursting in air to the furious roar of Tree-ents tearing Saruman's damn down, to the omnipresent score ratcheting the tension of the moment to a higher level. When you finish the first level...

Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy set a new standard for movie adaptations of novels. Fittingly, EA Games' The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King has set a new standard for video-game adaptations of movies. This outstanding title transports you to a beautifully rendered version of Peter Jackson's Middle-earth where you can engage in heart-stopping action as many of the movie's...
